Collective Impact for Inclusive Youth Employment (CIIYE) Initiative

The CIIYE initiative was made possible through support from the Centre for Employment Innovation at St. Francis Xavier University and the Government of Nova Scotia’s Department of Labour, Skills, and Immigration. We extend our deepest appreciation and thanks for not only their financial support of this important initiative, but also as collaborators and learning partners in the development, design, and implementation of the CIIYE initiative.

Through the Native Council of Nova Scotia (NCNS), this initiative is available to unemployed or underemployed Indigenous Youth (ages 18 – 34) across Nova Scotia.

Employers wishing to partner with the NCNS’ CIIYE initiative must have a physical address in Nova Scotia and ensure that employment complies with provincial employment standards. Through a formal agreement with the NCNS, Employers receive a wage subsidy to hire an Indigenous youth participating in the program and ongoing support to create safer, inclusive, and productive workplaces. In addition participating youth build their capacity and develop their skills for the labor market.

Both participating employers and youth are required to participate in training, communities of learning, and mentorship opportunities.

The CIIYE program is funded until December 31, 2023.
