In partnership with Clean Foundation, the Native Council of Nova Scotia was successful in receiving funding from Service Canada under the Skills and Partnership Fund (SPF).  The agreement was signed on January 29, 2024 and runs to March 31, 2026.

Throughout the duration of this project, the Native Council of Nova Scotia will provide services to 172 unemployed and/or underemployed participants. This initiative aims to offer defined client interventions that will help them develop their skills and enhance their employability, preparing them to secure and retain employment.

An additional 300 Indigenous community members will receive education regarding green economy employment opportunities. Recruitment staff will collaborate with NCNS employment case managers, Indigenous Employment Officers representing the 13 First Nations communities, and other Indigenous organizations to recruit project participants for the initiative.

This program will work in conjunction with indigenous people residing both off-reserve and within First Nation Communities in Nova Scotia.
